Our Story

Founded by Laura Archbold and Shawn Fagan, Red Couch Stories is based out of Rochester, MN, just a short drive south of Minneapolis. Laura and Shawn describe themselves as recovering journalists, both having spent time in the news business (Laura - television news, Shawn - newspaper and magazine environments). Individually, their work has taken them down the path of agency, non-profit, and corporate communication worlds to now small business owners with a passion to tell stories that serve a greater purpose.

Although long in the works before Red Couch Stories officially formed in early 2014, Laura and Shawn's world of public relations and portrait photography began together nearly 8 years earlier. Each worked independently, but at times would collaborate through their individual businesses - Encore Public Relations and Fagan Studios. It was through a mutual friend and non-profit cause that brought them together to produce a film that would be shown at a fundraising event. The result was magic in process and end product, raising awareness and exceeding the fund-the-need goal for the cause.

Our story continues to unfold as our team has traveled the world with clients helping their stories come to life, and has been blessed to be a part of over $100M in capital campaigns, annual giving, and cause-related initiatives. Our clients range from big and small, start-ups, non-profits, and Fortune 500 companies. We have a passion for corporate social responsibility, faith-based, and cause-related stories that make the world a better place.
